This kind of molybdenum and titanium alloy and its foam are manufactured by powder metallurgy method. Molybdenum and titanium alloy foam is made by sintering the mixture of molybdenum and titanium.
The plateau stress and elastic modulus are able to be changed by adjusting the porosity and pore size. In order to increase the ductility of molybdenum and titanium alloy foam, pure titanium powder is used as sintering adhesive agent and mixed with alloy powder.
Molybdenum and titanium alloy will have good bioactivity after alkali-heat treatment.
In sum, molybdenum and titanium alloy combines high strength, good ductility and bioactivity and it is a prospective material for replacement of hard tissue and merits further investigation.
