Reduction of China Molybdenum and Tungsten Export
On June 22, 2009, China revised and reduced the duties on export of nonferrous metals, which began from July 1st, 2009. Molybdenum and tungsten also have reduced their export duties, thus causing reduction of China molybdenum and tungsten export.
In accordance with this revision, the export-targeted tax rebates on molybdenum and tungsten were reduced.
While, China increased molybdenum import. Consequently, the stocks of molybdenum and tungsten in China have reached a large quantity, which caused the fall of tungsten and molybdenum prices. While, this phenomenon has been closely connected with local economy.
In June, 2012, the European Union asked the WTO to investigate the reduction of China molybdenum and tungsten export.
In a routine news conference of the business department in June 26th, 2012, Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesman-Shen Danyang said that the reduction of China molybdenum and tungsten export is entirely based on the protection of resources, environment and people's health.
