China’s tungsten production supplied approximate 90 percent of the world tungsten before June, 2007, when our country began to execute export quota management system to molybdenum product and control molybdenum export tightly.

In China, 45 percent of tungsten production is used to produce carbide tools and equipment, while in developed countries, 70 percent of tungsten production is applied to manufacture carbide tools and equipment. China is looking forward to increasing tungsten applications in order to produce tools and equipment with better quality.

There are new tungsten applications such as cellular phones and LCD screens. Because of the unique properties of tungsten, there are no real substitutes.
Due to tight export controls to tungsten, domestic tungsten production increased, thus causing tungsten price decline.
