Tungsten in China
In China, there are 21 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government have been proven to reserves tungsten ore. While, 8 provinces have more than 200 thousand tons of the tungsten ore reserve. They are: Hunan province, Jiangxi province, Henan province, Guangxi province, Fujian province, Guangdong province, Gansu province and Yunan province in order. Their tungsten reserve occupies 91.7% of countrywide tungsten reserves.
China's proven tungsten reserve is 1800 thousand tons which occupies 62% of world total tungsten reserve. The current proven basic tungsten reserve is 4200 thousand tons, while scheelite is accounted for about 70% and wolframite is accounted for about 30%.
China has traditionally been the world's leading tungsten producer and tungsten in China that has been produced accounts for 85% of the world's tungsten production, which is estimated at 35 thousand tons of tungsten concentrate. China's tungsten production does not seem to be affected by the slump in global tungsten prices as production remains at about 70% capacity which is compared to 10% production capacity exhibited by western producers. China's wolframite reserves are being rapidly depleted with an estimated 12 years reserves or 600 thousand tons reserves. Although China has substantial scheelite resources, scheelite resources are of a much lower grade and quality.
Chinese government exerts much control over the production, exporting of tungsten products, like tungsten wire, tungsten sheet, tungsten bar, etc. However, the rapid development of the automotive machinery manufacturing, construction metals and communications industries increased domestic demand for tungsten.
Zhengzhou Sanhui Co., Ltd is dealing in tungsten for 15 years and is one of China non-ferrous metals companies.
