Titanium Applications
Titanium has very excellent properties and has been widely used. The main titanium applications are: aerospace, ship manufacturing, chemical and petrochemical, transportation, weapons, marine, power, construction, metallurgy, medical, sports equipment and light industry.
In United States and Russia, most of titanium machine material is used in aerospace industry, accounted for about 80%. In contrast, in Japan and China, 80% titanium is used in chemical, civil industry and people's livelihood supplies area.
1. Titanium application in aerospace:
Aviation industry is the earliest department to develop and use titanium and titanium alloy. Without titanium, aircraft and engine actually could not create Ma2.7 supersonic aircraft. Since the 1960s, titanium alloys were mainly used for fan blade, compressor blades, axle and casing in engine.Titanium alloy is mainly used for the skeleton, skin, landing gear, fire wall, wing, fin, carling, hatch, keel, stop device, fasteners, front wheel and signal board and so on in the structure.
Titanium in the aerospace industry reduces launch weight, increases flight shot and saves cost. So titanium is the hot material in aerospace industry. In the rocket, missile and aerospace industry, titanium can be used as pressure vessel, fuel tanks, rocket engine shell, etc.
2. Titanium application in chemical industry
Titanium applications in chemical and petrochemical industry are: electrolytic tank, reactor, condenser, separator, heat exchanger, cooler, absorption tower, fittings (flanges, bolts, nuts, pump
and valve). For the chemical industry, chlor-alkali industry is the largest using titanium manufacturing industry, accounted for 50%.
