Titanium Discovery and Development
This article will mainly talk about titanium discovery and development. As one metal, although titanium appears later than copper, iron and aluminum, titanium is widely applied in aerospace, ship manufacturing, chemical industry, traffic, building decoration, marine construction, sports goods, daily necessities because of its high specific strength, strong corrosion resistance, good biocompatibility, non-magnetic and other advantages. Titanium is called the "space metal", "marine metal" and "intelligent metal".
1.Titanium discovery:
In 1791, the British Minister W.Gregor discovered a new metal element in black magnetite. In 1795, German chemist M.H. Klaproth also found the element and named it Titans. In 1910, the United States scientist M.A.Hunter firstly got pure titanium by sodium reduction.
Titanium is widely distributed in the nature, the content of titanium in the crust is about 0.64%. Although China has the most titanium reserves in the world, ilmenite ore accounts for 93% of total titanium reserves. The high impurity content increases metallurgical technical difficulty.
2.Titanium development:
The industrial production history of titanium only has 60 years, therefore, titanium is called "baby metal" by Japanese Titanium Association. In these 60 years, titanium is widely applied as
excellent, light, and corrosion resistant material, functional material and important biological engineering material. Titanium is known as the rising "third metal".
Zhengzhou Sanhui Co., Ltd provides titanium screw, titanium nut, titanium bolt and other titanium products. Our titanium products are sold to the world, such as titanium plate to Europe.
