Contact points are cut from tungsten rod and have diameters from 2 to 6 mm and a minimum thickness of 0.6 mm. They exhibit a fibrous structure with the direction of the fibres perpendicular to the cross section. This is a special advantage, for example, in contact points of automotive distributors and similar applications.

The diameter tolerance of the contact points are the same as those of the rod from which they are cut. Their thickness tolerance is +-0.05 mm.

Tungsten discs have a minimum diameter of 10 mm and are used mainly in rectifiers.

Tungsten discs can be cut from rod, punched from sheet, and directly pressed, sintered and forged.

The minimum and maximum dimensions of tungsten discs depend on the production method.

Because tungsten is difficult to machine, we recommend that only finished tungsten discs are ordered.

Tungsten discs with ground circumferences and lapped plane surface have the following tolerances:

Diameter: +- 0.05 mm
Thickness: +- 0.05 mm
Flatness: < 0.01mm
Parallelism: < 0.01mm

Tungsten discs can be supplied either plated with nickel, gold or with a nickel and gold combination as well as with multilayer coating.
